The 2010 Porsche Panamera
will have its North American debut this August, during the classic-car
weekend in Monterey that hosts the annual Pebble Beach Concours, the
Monterey Historics and the Quail.
The debut coincides with Porsche’s appearance as the featured marque at
the historic races held at the Laguna Seca track. Porsche has also
connected the debut with the Quail, one of the newer classic car
concours to crop up over the Monterey weekend. At the host, the Quail
Lodge, Porsche will bring in VIPs to test drive the Panamera and learn
more about the new sedan. Finally, Porsche has also been granted a spot on the lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours itself.
The Panamera–in case you’ve been on another planet without Internet
access for the past 24 months–is Porsche’s first four-door sedan. A sports car
with four seats, as Porsche describes it, the Panamera Gran Turismo
(its official name) combines “sporting driving dynamics, a spacious
interior, and the supreme comfort of a gran turismo,” according to the
German automaker.
The annual classic-car outing in Monterey takes place August 9-16. U.S. sales of the Panamera start on October 17, 2009.
